You’ve just moved to Basel and you want the official driving school partner of FC Basel 1893 to help you claim your freedom on four wheels? Boom! Done!
Moving to a new country also means learning new rules, plus dealing with a fair amount of administration. Sure, you already know how to drive. But Swiss authorities want to be very sure you really know what you’re doing.
Here’s what you need to know and do:
From your date of entry, you have 12 months to exchange your foreign driving licence for a Swiss one. After that, driving is no longer allowed.
You must submit your application in time to the cantonal road traffic office.
Depending on your country of origin, you may need to take a theory and/or driving test.
If so, we’ll teach you the Swiss traffic logic (right of way, trams, bus stops and all that good stuff).
A valid Swiss vehicle insurance is mandatory.
